Irakli Beraia, the Chair of the Defence and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday said at the ongoing NATO Summit in Vilnius, Georgia was supposed to “get closer” to its “main foreign policy goal” - full integration into the Alliance.
In his comment to the local media, Beraia noted the country was expecting to have increased political and practical support from NATO, as well as to have the country’s achievements “properly reflected” in the final communiqué of the Summit.
He also emphasised that “unfortunately” some groups in the country were “deliberately spreading disinformation” over the matter “to not only discredit but also damage the Euro-Atlantic integration process of Georgia”.
A Georgian delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, is participating in a two-day NATO Summit in Lithuania’s capital city of Vilnius.
