Irakli Beraia, the Chairman of the Defence and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament, and General Robert Brieger, the Chair of the European Union Military Committee, on Friday discussed partnership and existing security challenges in the South Caucasus region.
During the exchange in Tbilisi, the Georgian lawmaker emphasised the significance of close defence cooperation between Georgia and the bloc, and highlighted the “pivotal role” played by the EU's “peacekeeping instruments” in bolstering Georgia's defence capabilities, the Parliament press office said.
The meeting primarily centred on advancing collaboration in defence between Georgia and the EU, the country’s alignment with the “strategic compass” of the bloc, and realisation of “shared objectives”, the press office cited Beraia as saying.
