Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, Francis Drouin on Tuesday discussed the annual 48th plenary session of the European Region of the APF hosted in Tbilisi.
At the meeting, Papuashvili emphasised that holding the event in Georgia was a “good opportunity” to deepen cooperation with the member countries of the Assembly and promote cultural exchanges, as well as the French language, the Parliament press office said.

Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration was also reviewed by the officials, with the Georgian side expressing its willingness to deepen cooperation. The conversation also touched on Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Papuashvili thanked Drouin for selecting Georgia as the host country of the Assembly and expressed gratitude towards the APF for supporting the territorial integrity of Georgia and the policy of non-recognition of the country’s Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
The annual plenary session of the Assembly, a forum for political dialogue involving 90 countries across five continents, opened today and will run through Saturday.
