The security challenges and the current political and economic situation in the Black Sea region were discussed at the meetings of the committees of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly on Tuesday in Yerevan, Armenia with the participation of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Georgia.
At the Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy a resolution document focusing on the importance of promoting good governance in the public institutions of the Eastern Partnership countries was reviewed, the Parliament of Georgia announced.
The need for European Union's support in the reform process for the Eastern Partnership states – Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Ukraine - was also in discussion at the session.

At the Committee on Energy Security, the draft resolution on Energy Security Challenges and Sustainability in the Eastern Partnership in the Context of the European Green Agreement and the Transition to Clean Energy was discussed. Co-authors of the resolution are the Georgian MP from the ruling party Maia Bitadze and MEP Bronis Rope from Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance.
The draft, presented at the event by Khatia Tsilosani from the ruling party, stressed the importance of climate change, energy security and sustainability, and addressed both achievements and challenges of the energy sector in the Eastern Partnership countries.
Economic and healthcare issues were also addressed at the Euronest session, along with the policy of strengthening cooperation in vaccination programmes.
The draft resolutions will be voted at the 10th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly scheduled for April this year.
The Bureau of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, headed by Georgian MP Maka Botchorishvili and Lithuanian MEP Andrius Kubilius, approved a statement in support of Ukraine, condemning the recognition of the independence of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions by Russia and supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Botchorishvili and Kubilius also met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan to discuss the ongoing situation in the South Caucasus region and emphasise the importance of peace and stability in the region.
The Eastern Partnership was launched in 2009 which originally incorporated Belarus as well however, in June 2021, Belarus suspended its membership in response to strict economic sanctions imposed by the EU.
The Georgian parliamentary delegation in Yerevan is represented by four Georgian MPs: Maka Botchorishvili, Levan Karumidze, Khatia Tsilosani and Mariam Lashkhi.
