Georgian Parliament hosts Ukrainian music school students, awarding them with certificates

“It is important that we have the opportunity to convey our love and friendship to you, so that we can look ahead together with optimism. [...] Perhaps, Georgia is the only country on the face of the earth that best understands what the Ukrainian people feel, what you, the children feel. We want to show you our solidarity and friendship, to add our energy to the light of hope that is so strong in you", Papuashvili noted. Photo via Parliament of Georgia

Papuashvili addressed the guests and said it was an “honour” to host them in the Parliament and be a co-organiser of their stay in Georgia, noting “in this difficult period Ukraine has been going through”, it was a privilege to demonstrate Georgia’s friendship with Ukraine “not only with words and deeds, but also by welcoming you [the students] into our families”.

It is important that we have the opportunity to convey our love and friendship to you, so that we can look ahead together with optimism. [...] Perhaps, Georgia is the only country on the face of the earth that best understands what the Ukrainian people feel, what you, the children feel. We want to show you our solidarity and friendship, to add our energy to the light of hope that is so strong in you", Papuashvili noted.

In his turn, Talakvadze said he believed the “peaceful days” would return to Ukraine soon and said during the war in the country, Georgia “was doing its best” for the Ukrainian people and the country.

The door of Georgia is always open, and that is why we are very grateful that together with the Government we were able to host Ukrainian friends, young people, and children not once,[...] We hope you have spent peaceful and happy days here and will always remember how Georgia welcomed you and how our country opened your heart”, he added.

Talakvadze noted hosting “a new generation of Ukraine” was the “confirmation” that Georgian citizens and the Government “love and care” for them.
