Georgian chess player Anastasia Kirtadze has won the FIDE World Under-14 Championship hosted in Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi, the Sports Ministry said on Thursday.
Kirtadze, who is coached by international grandmaster Giga Quparadze, achieved the title of World Champion in rapid chess ahead of time, one round before the competition’s conclusion.
She also won the Under-15 World School Chess Championship in April, becoming the first Georgian chess player to win the World Youth Championship after a 12-year break.
The Under-18 Chess World Championships with 457 competitors from 38 countries aged between 8-18 is scheduled to run through Monday.
