Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said it was “no coincidence” that the main theme of next year’s World Tourism Day - set to be celebrated in Georgia - would be “Peace and Tourism”.
It is symbolic that the main theme of Tourism Day will be ‘Peace and Tourism’, and it is symbolic that our country, our city was chosen to host this important event. We will host delegations of many countries with dignity”, he said.
Last week, 38 countries of the Commission for Europe of the United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation chose Georgia as the host country for next year’s date, with the selection made at their 68th meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday claimed the current “period of peace” for the country under his Government and its “correct policy” were to be credited with the “exemplary” domestic economic growth of 7.3 percent between January-April and the international tourism revenue exceeding 100 percent in the first quarter of the year.
Thirty-eight countries of the Commission for Europe of the United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation have chosen Georgia as the host country for next year’s World Tourism Day, with the selection made at their 68th meeting on Thursday in Sofia, Bulgaria. Georgia will host the first adventure marathon for tourism professionals - Mta-Mta Guide Marathon starting from Monday till the end of the week, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Saturday.
