Georgian Prime MInister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday said ensuring care for children was among his Government’s “top priorities”, in comments on International Day for Protection of Children.
Garibashvili extended his message for “peace, health, prosperity and progress to every child in our country” on the date, and said ensuring equal access to healthcare and education for all children was “vitally important”.
The PM noted “numerous steps” had been taken by the Government “year after year” that served the purpose of fulfilling the objective.
He also announced an increase in state support package for socially underprivileged children, adding about 232,000 children would now receive a monthly support package of ₾200 (about $76), with the Government spending ₾465 million (about $178 mln) from the budget for the purpose.
