Bilateral cooperation in defence was discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and the British Ambassador Mark Clayton.
Burchuladze thanked the United Kingdom - a “strategic” partner state - for its “unwavering support” of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and highlighted the UK’s contribution to the development of the country’s defence capabilities, the press office of the Georgian MoD said.
The officials also reviewed development prospects of the Georgian-based cybersecurity centre and the UK’s defence involvement in the implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package.
The SNGP, a set of measures for “strengthen[ing] Georgia’s ability to defend itself and advanc[ing] its preparations for membership” in the alliance, was originally launched at the NATO Summit in 2014 and updated in 2020.
