Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Tuesday said the country’s “potential and opportunities” would be the highlight of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s participation in the Qatar Economic Forum.

Darchiashvili said Garibashvili would take part in a panel discussion to note prospects of the country and the wider region.

The Forum provides a unique opportunity to showcase [...] the economic potential of this or that country and region. The Prime Minister will take part in a panel discussion where he will talk about the potential of our country, the opportunities that our country [and] our region offer, and this is a good opportunity to talk with our partners about how to interest them in the economic potential of our country”, the top Georgian diplomat said.

Darchiashvili added the meeting between Garibashvili and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, at the event on Tuesday had focused on the “friendly” relations between the countries, with the officials committed to further deepening and strengthening the ties.

These meetings will bring a very important and valuable impetus in this direction. On the one hand, the existing political relations between the two countries will be further strengthened, and on the other hand, our country can become even more interesting for Qatar [...] - these meetings have served this purpose”, he concluded.
