Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze claimed a gold medal in the men’s senior sabre individual at the 2023 Villa de Madrid World Cup, held in Spain’s capital city of Madrid between 12-13 May, the Fencing Federation of Georgia said on Saturday.
Bazadze, the number one fencer in the International Fencing Federation ranking, won the final against his Italian rival Riccardo Nuccio with a score of 15:6.
The Georgian athlete also defeated two French athletes Bolade Apithy in the quarter-final with a score of 15:10 and Maxime Pianfetti in the semi-final by 15:11.
