Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and his Maltese counterpart Angelo Farrugia on Monday discussed bilateral cooperation, prospects of further strengthening legislative ties and Georgia’s European aspirations.
Held during a visit of Papuashvili and other Georgian lawmakers to Malta, the meeting saw them introduce their counterparts to efforts of the Georgian authorities to fulfil the European Union conditions for granting the country the bloc’s membership candidate status.

The discussion also reviewed people-to-people relations and bilateral cooperation in education, seafaring, transport and energy, the Parliament press office said.
Sharing his country’s experience in EU integration, Farrugia pledged his Government’s “full and unconditional support” for Georgia’s European aspirations.
