As part of the Bureau’s Export Control and Border Security programme, the X-ray scanning equipment was handed over to Georgia’s Customs Department, which aims to strengthen Georgia's national security and help its customs, as well as border security teams prevent illicit weapons and weapons of mass destruction trafficking.
The representatives of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance and Kelly Degnan, the US Ambassador to Georgia, participated in the scanning equipment handover ceremony, which was held at Batumi International Airport, aiming to “bolster” sanctioned goods detection capabilities, the Bureau said.
