Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said his Government would “very soon” address the Parliament with a legislative initiative to regulate bus station infrastructure across the country and make passenger transportation “comfortable and safe”.
Garibashvili cited the goal of making all bus stations “modern, compliant with European standards” in the country.
There are many problems, even at bus stations the situation is not really favourable - there are unsanitary conditions, minimum requirements [and] standards are not met, and this is related, of course, to traffic and safety rules. This requires involvement and intervention of the state”, he said.
The PM added the Ministry of Economy had developed “specific measures” and would ask the Parliament to approve its legislative initiative on the topic.
“Of course, we will give companies and individuals a reasonable period of time to fix [current infrastructure] problems”, Garibashvili said.
