Georgia’s national ice hockey team defeated Australia with a score of 3:2 in the second division match of Group A of the World Championship at the Pista de Hielo rink in Madrid.
The hockey team earned the win with two goals by Ivan Karelin, along with one goal contributed by Dimitri Ermoshenko. Danila Slesarev has been named the best player from the Georgian squad.
The Georgian team defeated Iceland, Israel and Croatia in Group A, with only one loss against the host team of the tournament - Spain.

If Georgia is able to take first place in the Group, the national team will be promoted to the first division of the Championship.

Georgia’s national ice hockey team defeated Iceland with a score of 4:1 in the opening match of the World Championship 2023, running between April 16-22 at the Pista de Hielo rink in Madrid, the Georgian Ice Hockey Federation said on Sunday.
A memorandum of cooperation to further develop ice hockey in Georgia was signed on Wednesday by Georgian Sport Minister Thea Tsulukiani and Luc Tardif, the President of the International Ice Hockey Federation.
