Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze discussed issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and strategic challenges at the Schuman Security and Defence Forum in Brussels on Tuesday.
Burchuladze joined officials, military professionals, civil society and opinion leaders from 45 European Union member and partner countries in the conference that was aimed at deepening partnership in the sectors, the Georgian Ministry of Defence said.

The event is scheduled to run biannually in its discussions of current issues of defence and security cooperation.
Georgia’s new Defence Code will recognise the status of a student as a basis for deferring compulsory military service for citizens of the country, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday in latest updates on the updated legislation.

The Georgian Ministry of Defence on Thursday said foreign diplomatic missions in the country had “positively” evaluated the country’s new defence code that introduces systemic changes to the Georgian Defence Forces and the compulsory military service.
Georgia’s Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze on Wednesday highlighted the significance of projects supported by the Council of Europe with the aim of contributing to human rights-oriented policing in the country.
