Deputy Interior Minister highlights Council of Europe-supported projects for human rights-oriented policing

Georgia’s Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze on Wednesday highlighted the significance of projects supported by the Council of Europe with the aim of contributing to human rights-oriented policing in the country.

In a meeting of the Managing Committee of the Human Rights Compliant Policing in Georgia project, Darakhvelidze noted trainings and studies under the project, held at the Ministry for employees of structural and territorial units, including those in managerial positions.

The Deputy Minister also overviewed activities planned for the next nine months in cooperation with the CoE.

Implemented since 2021, the Human Rights Compliant Policing in Georgia project aims to support the Government in monitoring performance of police activities “in an effective and accountable manner” under a €600,000 budget and is set to run through June.
