The Georgian Government will provide a one-time financial aid to Ukrainian families with children who have been stranded in Georgia by the ongoing conflict in their country with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund.

The package will see the families that have arrived in Georgia after February 1, 2022 receive ₾470 ($173) per child, the UNICEF representation to Georgia revealed on Thursday.

Qualifying parents and legal guardians have been called to apply to the Georgian Social Service Agency by March 1 with documentation, while a hotline for information on the aid has also been set up on the number 1505.

The Georgian Government extended its assistance programme for Ukrainian nationals in the country to May 1, 2023 in October.

Launched in July, the programme includes monetary provisions for accommodation and living expenses, and applies to Ukrainian citizens and those with the right to permanent residence in Ukraine but unable to return to the country who have entered Georgia after February 1, 2022.
