The Georgian foreign office on Tuesday cited the Minister as saying in comments during his Sweden visit that Danielsson had “once again reaffirmed his country’s support for Georgia’s European integration, and pledged support for the implementation of further reforms to facilitate the country’s EU membership”.
He said Georgia is not only meticulously fulfilling the recommendations to obtain the bloc’s membership candidate status, but also taking all necessary steps in terms of converging with European standards, including legislative standards”, Darchiashvili said.
Emphasising the importance of the bloc’s decision last year to grant Georgia a European perspective, the sides also highlighted Georgia’s “important role” for Europe’s energy security, particularly on the backdrop of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
