Georgia reports 5,381 new cases of coronavirus, 1,065 recoveries, 30 deaths

Georgia has reported 5,381 new Covid-19 cases, 1,065 recoveries, and 30 deaths in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate stands at 8.47%.
Overall 49,333 individuals remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.
A total of 63,516 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 33,800 of them were rapid tests, while the remaining 29,716 were PCR tests.
988,895 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.
A total of 922,411 of 979,235 patients have recovered, while 14,359 have died from the virus.
The 5,381 new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 3,144 cases
- Adjara - 577 cases
- Imereti - 539 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 191 cases
- Shida Kartli - 262 cases
- Guria - 100 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 230 cases
- Kakheti - 173 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 101 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 69 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 15 cases
A total of 4,369 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,005 of the 4,369 patients are in intensive care units. 294 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
42,887 people are undergoing treatment at home.
Overall, 1,306,788 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,189,398 people have been fully vaccinated.
The Georgian Health Ministry has created a new portal, https://er.moh.gov.ge/, which allows Georgian citizens to register their COVID-19 status online.
Georgia has reported 5,567 new Covid-19 cases, 1,661 recoveries, and 36 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days has increased to 9.14%. Overall 46,309 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.
Head of Georgia's National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today that the new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for 60% of total Covid-19 cases confirmed today in Tbilisi, while in the regions of Georgia the rate stands at 30%.
Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili, appointed to the post on December 27, has stated earlier today that the Georgian healthcare system is ‘fully mobilised and ready to face any challenges,’ if Omicron variant cases increase significantly.
The Ministry of Health has decided to shorten the Covid-19 isolation and quarantine period for fully vaccinated individuals who test positive for the virus starting Monday.
Georgia has reported 5,504 new cases of coronavirus, 3,304 recoveries and 24 deaths in the last 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate stands at 9.6%.
