Coronavirus: Georgia reports 5,567 new cases, 36 deaths

Georgia has reported 5,567 new Covid-19 cases, 1,661 recoveries, and 36 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days has increased to 9.14%.

Overall 46,309 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 60,753 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 34,092 of the 60,753 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 26,661 were PCR tests. 

984,802 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 924,072 of 984,802 patients have recovered, while 14,395 have died from the virus.

Overall, 1,096 cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the country as of January 14.

The 5,567 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 3,479 cases 
  • Adjara - 687 cases 
  • Imereti - 434 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 159 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 254 cases 
  • Guria - 130 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 199 cases 
  • Kakheti - 130 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 84 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 85 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 26 cases

A total of 4,379 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,003 of the 4,379 patients are in critical condition. 289 of the 1,003 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.

39,853 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,299,971 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,174,297 people have been fully vaccinated.
