Georgians stand with the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom, peace and prosperity against the Russian aggression, Otar Grigolia, the Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in Tbilisi City Council, told the 42nd Plenary Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe on Wednesday.
Grigolia told the session the Georgian delegation reaffirmed its “full support” for Ukraine's territorial integrity and independence on the backdrop of the Russian invasion that started last month.
We, Georgians, understand very well the pain caused by aggression and occupation, cities engulfed in fire, civilian casualties, forced exile and human suffering. Georgia has long suffered from aggression by the Russian Federation in violation of all international obligations,” Grigolia said.
In his address Grigolia also noted the Congress should continue to support the core values of the organisation in the light of the ongoing war in Ukraine, and provide “all necessary support” to the Ukrainian people.
