Polish Prime Minister’s visit of Georgia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine means that Georgia is a “really important partner” for Poland, Giorgi Khelashvili, the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, told Imedi TV on Friday.

Khelashvili noted Poland was in a situation of “most crisis” in Europe due to it receiving a vast portion of Ukrainian refugees fleeing from the Russian invasion.

At such times, when the Prime Minister of Poland arrives in Georgia to talk to the Prime Minister of Georgia, it means that we are a really important partner, [that] they care about our opinion and our participation in the international community. We have very close coordination with our foreign partners,” Khelashvili said.

On Thursday, Mateusz Morawiecki, the Prime Minister of Poland, paid a one-day working visit to Georgia, during which he met his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili in Batumi.

Security challenges created in the Black Sea region as a result of the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, and the European Union membership bids submitted by the Associate Trio countries of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, were discussed at a meeting of Georgian and Polish Prime Ministers.
