The Ukrainian people “continue to fight for freedom and independence with special unity, strength and courage”, and have Georgia’s “unwavering” support and solidarity in the cause, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said on Monday.
Papuashvili lamented the “dire” humanitarian situation in Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion, citing over 2,5 million people fleeing their homes since the outbreak of hostilities in the country.
However, the most heartbreaking [part] is the human losses, the number of which is growing daily,Papuashvili pointed out before he asked MPs to observe a minute of silence in honour of the memory of the casualties of the invasion.
