Goderdzi ski resort, the highlands of Adjara, will open on December 31, welcoming its guests with such “magical” news for the  New Year, the Mountain Trails Agency announced on Thursday.

The resort is located at an altitude of 2,000 metres, 252 km away from Tbilisi and 109 km from Batumi.

The working hours of the resort are from 10 am to 4 pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 5 pm on weekends. Season tickets can be purchased at the resort ticket office.

All four winter resorts of the country - Gudauri, Bakuriani, Goderdzi and Hatsvali -  will welcome visitors with new infrastructure and trained service personnel for the winter season, the Agency said last month.

New facilities have been unveiled in Gudauri and Goderdzi ski resorts with special equipment updated, the Agency noted, adding the operating personnel including cable car operators, electricians, cashiers and lifeguards had been trained respectively.

Visitors to Hatsvali and Tetnuldi - sports and recreational destinations in the Svaneti region - will have an opportunity to enjoy a new ski track and ropeway, the Agency said.

As for Bakuriani, the resort is ready to host the 2023 Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in February “with honour”, the Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili said this week. Bakuriani’s new infrastructure includes two artificial reservoirs installed for the snowmaking system in the Didveli and Mitarbi areas of the resort, new cable cars and six new tracks.

“This essential infrastructure will help Georgia to host the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Bakuriani with honour and at the same time, it will strengthen the resort, extend the winter tourist season and increase the number of visitors", Kvrivishvili said.
