Georgian Football Federation President Levan Kobiashvili will run in the Executive Committee elections of the Union of European Football Associations next year, GFF General Secretary Davit Mujiri announced on Thursday.

Mujiri said the move would see a Georgian representative being presented by the Federation for the candidate to become a member of the Committee of the European governing body for the first time.

Members of the Committee are elected by the UEFA Congress for a term of four years, with the event set to be hosted in Portugal on April 5.

Kobiashvili, a former player of the Georgian national football team, previously served as the Third Vice Chairman of the UEFA’s National Associations Committee. He was appointed as the President of the GFF in 2015.
