The Georgian Football Federation has elected Levan Kobiashvili as the President of the Federation for the third term with the absolute majority of votes from 28 delegates, the Federation announced on Saturday.
In his address, Kobiashvili, who will lead the governing body of Georgian football for the next four years, thanked GFF sponsors and the Government for their support and highlighted the importance of hosting the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Georgia. He noted the infrastructural works, carried out with the support of the state for the championship, would contribute to the further development and popularisation of football in the country.
The successes of the national football team and the national futsal team, as well as the Georgian referees, were emphasised by Kobiashvili. He also highlighted the introduction of the video assistant referee in the country’s national championship and the steps taken by the Federation for the development of women’s and children’s football.
Kobiashvili drew attention to the importance of the international Coaching Summit, which is set to be held in Georgia’s Black Sea coastline city of Batumi in 2023, and pointed out the GFF’s new strategy [presented last year] for the development of Georgian football, outlining the Federation’s agenda for the next four years.
