The United States Appropriations Act for 2023 has earmarked at least $132,025,000 in assistance for Georgia, the figures released on Tuesday show.

In addition to the assistance package, the document also points out none of the funds appropriated by the Act may be used for the benefit of Governments that have recognised the independence of, or established diplomatic relations with the Russian-occupied Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).

None of the funds appropriated by this Act may be made available to support the Russian occupation of the Georgian territories of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia”, the document specifically noted.

The Secretary of the Treasury will also instruct US executive directors in international financial institutions to vote against assistance proposals by the institutions for any programme that violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
