Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday highlighted his meeting with counterparts in the Luxembourg Parliament by saying “along with their hearts, their voices also support Georgia’s European perspective”.

In his remarks over the visit of the Parliamentary delegation to the country, Papuashvili noted “close contact” and communication between parliaments was “necessary” and these opportunities would be used, pointing out Luxembourg supported Georgia in the European integration process.

We had a very warm meeting with our counterparts in the Parliament of Luxembourg. We, as part of the European family, must now be in more intensive contact with each other. There is a need for very close contact, communication between parliaments at the level of committees, at the level of friendship groups”, Papuashvili said.

The head of the Georgian legislative body also stressed the EU integration was “not only” integration at the level of EU institutions, but “above all”, it was about “communication [and] connection” between member states.

We need the assistance of all countries, including Luxembourg, on this path, so that our institutions and legislation are closer to the EU framework. We need the voice of all member countries. We were told today in Luxembourg that along with their hearts, their voices also support our European perspective”, Papuashvili concluded.
