Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday discussed strategic cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan with Mukhtar Babayev, the minister of ecology and natural resources of Azerbaijan.

The parties expressed willingness to further deepen the existing “fruitful” cooperation, with Garibashvili emphasising the importance of the visit of Ilham Aliyev, the president of Azerbaijan, to Georgia in October, the government administration said.

The conversation also touched on economic cooperation between two countries, with officials noting the roles of Georgia and Azerbaijan as “reliable transit partners”.

Garibashvili and Babayev also highlighted the importance of “full operation” of infrastructure projects of regional significance, and significance of cooperation between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye.
