The reforms of the defence and security systems and the need of deepening NATO-Georgia cooperation were highlighted during a meeting on Friday between the representatives of the NATO partnerships and cooperative security committee and the Georgian defence officials, the Georgian defence ministry announced on Friday.
Hosted by the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre, the meeting was attended by the national security council and the coast guard department of the border police.
The state body said “particular attention” had been devoted to the implementation of the tailored support measures for Georgia [approved at NATO summit] through the strengthening of the essential NATO-Georgia package, which includes the further enhancement of defence capabilities and the accomplishment of effective measures by the allies.
In its statement, the Georgian defence ministry noted Georgia had been hosting the NATO committee for the first time, which once again confirmed NATO’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
