Relations and cooperation between Georgia and Armenia were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and Ashot Smbatyan, Armenia’s newly appointed ambassador to the country.

The two officials reviewed the existing relations and prospects for future cooperation, the government administration said.

They focused on the importance of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, with Garibashvili noting Georgia was ready to continue its “successful” mediation between neighbouring countries.

Smbatyan was appointed as the ambassador to Georgia in early September.
