Activities of the International Monetary Fund in Georgia were discussed on Friday in a meeting between Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and James John, the head of the IMF mission in the country.
The officials reviewed the current programme of the institution on the backdrop of challenges in the region and noted its “great importance”, the government administration said.
Garibashvili thanked John for the “firm support” of the IMF in Georgia's development and reforms, with the discussion also noting the readiness to continue the ongoing reforms in the country.
The officials also pointed to economic growth trends in Georgia, highlighting that despite inflation remaining “one of the most important” global challenges, dynamics of decreasing inflation could be observed in Georgia.
