Statistics reveal managers receive highest salary in Georgia, highlight gender pay gap

Managers in Georgia received the highest average monthly nominal earnings of ₾2,414.7 (about $873) in 2021, while those in low-skilled labour positions earned the lowest rate at ₾674.1 (about $243), the latest data published by the national statistics office of Georgia has shown.

The office said men’s average earnings were higher than women’s in all occupations, contrasting the average monthly earning of women managers at ₾1,863.5 ($674) with ₾2,768.9 ($1,001) earned by men.

The highest gender pay gap is observed in low-skilled occupations, where women’s earnings are 53.5 percent lower than men’s, the body also noted.

In other figures, average annual labour cost per employee was estimated at ₾16,142.8 ($5,838) in 2021, 97 percent of which were earnings, and three percent included expenses such as social, cultural, educational and vocational training.

It should be noted in 2021 average labour cost per employee was 32.3 percent higher than the corresponding data of 2017", Geostat said.

According to the sectors, the highest labour cost was observed in the financial and insurance activities and amounted to ₾29,201 ($10,561), while the lowest rate was observed in education and equalled ₾10,152.9 ($3,672).

The average annual labour cost in the public sector was 19.8 percent lower than in the non-public sector, estimated at ₾13,932.2 ($5,039) and ₾17,372 ($6,283) respectively.
