Average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia increased by ₾213.3 (about $75) in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of previous year, marking a 16.1 percent increase to reach ₾1.541 (about $544), the national statistics office of Georgia said on Thursday.
The highest monthly earnings were observed in the following sectors:
- Information and communication – ₾3,108.8 (+43.1 percent)
- Financial and insurance activities – ₾2,671.0 (+13.4 percent)
- Construction – ₾2,177.6 (+8.5 percent)
- Mining and quarrying – ₾1,026.4 (+16.6 percent)

In the second quarter of the year, average monthly earnings of hired employees in the business sector increased by ₾236.2 (about $83), or 17.0 percent, and equaled ₾1,625.8 (about $574).
Average monthly earnings of hired employees in the non-business and financial sectors increased by ₾170.2 (about $60), or 13.9 percent, and reached ₾1,396.8 (about $493), the body also said.
Unemployment rate in Georgia decreased by four percent in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter of the previous year and equalled 18.1 percent across the country, data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia shows.
Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili on Monday announced public sector earnings would increase 10 percent yearly over the next three years until 2026.
The number of individuals receiving a monthly salary higher than ₾9,600 (about $3,310/€3,149) increased by 42 percent in May year-on-year, a report published by PMC Research Centre on Wednesday showed.
Average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia increased by 53.5 GEL (4.4%) in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 1,256.2 GEL (about $397.53/€327.83), reports the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Managers in Georgia received the highest average monthly nominal earnings of ₾2,414.7 (about $873) in 2021, while those in low-skilled labour positions earned the lowest rate at ₾674.1 (about $243), the latest data published by the national statistics office of Georgia has shown.
Average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia increased by 21.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year and reached ₾1,773.7 ($687.57), the National Statistics Office of Georgia said on Friday.
