Georgia's support to Ukraine and the European integration process of the two countries were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the speaker of the Georgian parliament Shalva Papuashvili and Oleksandr Korniyenko, the first deputy speaker of the Ukrainian lawmaking body.
Papuashvili reiterated Georgia's “unwavering support” for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and noted the war in the country was a “big challenge” for European security, the Georgian parliament's press office said.
In his turn, the Ukrainian official thanked the Georgian delegation for “fraternal concern”.
Within the framework of the 145th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Rwanda, the officials reviewed the European integration process of the two countries, with Papuashvili discussing the progress of Georgia in fulfilling the European Union conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status.
Georgian people have suffered from Russian terror as well. Therefore, they understand why we insist that the whole world must recognise Russia as sponsor of international terrorism and hold them fully liable for their actions”, he said.
