Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday announced that the government would present the vision of energy development to society and business “in just a few weeks”, no later than November and would begin its implementation in the “near future”.
Garibashvili said that after “many months” the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund had concluded “quite successfully” and noted the government’s economic team had begun working on the renewal of the Power Purchase Agreements programme, which had been suspended that had “somewhat” hindered the inflow of investments in the energy sector.
The head of the government also said that by his initiative, all agencies had made 10-year development plans, with the energy direction “written in detail”, including the information on the capacities of hydropower plants and wind and solar power stations to be built.
