The Georgian foreign ministry on Wednesday expressed its “deep concern” over the visit of Aleksandr Lukashenko, the president of Belarus to Georgia's Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia and his meeting with the representatives of the occupation regime in the region's capital city of Sokhumi.
In its statement, the ministry condemned Lukashenko's "visit" to the occupied region, which “blatantly infringes” the state border of Georgia, and the “fundamental” principles and norms of international law.
The ministry called on the Belarusian side to “respect” the territorial integrity of the sovereign state within the internationally recognised borders and not to take actions contradicting the principles of the international law.
