Georgian, Iraqi defence ministers discuss enhancement of cooperation

Prospects for the development of defence cooperation between Georgia and Iraq was discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the two countries’ defence ministers Juansher Burchuladze and Juma Anad Saadoun. 

The meeting focused on the issues of cooperation in the military and technical sectors, with the officials expressing their “willingness to strengthen the partnership”, the Georgian ministry said.

The two officials also reviewed the participation of the Georgian military contingent in the international mission in Iraq between 2003-2008 and highlighted its importance.

Earlier today Saadoun laid a wreath at the Tbilisi memorial of the heroes who died in the battles for the territorial integrity of Georgia.
