Georgian domestic exports up 36.9% in January-August

Georgia has exported locally produced goods worth $3.57 billion between January-August, which is a 36.9 percent increase year-on-year, preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia show.

Geostat said local exports in the country had accounted for 69.6 percent of total exports in the reporting period, amounting to $2.48 billion, 31.2 percent higher compared to the same period of 2021.

Georgia’s top trading partners were:

  • China - $472.2 million
  • Russia - $350.6 million
  • Türkiye -$295.6 million

The five largest domestic export goods of Georgia are as follows:

  1. Copper ores and concentrates - $683.8 million (27.5% of total exports)
  2. Ferro-alloys - $365.1 million (14.7%)
  3. Nitrogenous fertilizers - $192.7 million  (7.7%)
  4. Wine from fresh grapes - $146 million  (5.9%)
  5. Electrical energy - $73.9 million  (3%)

In general, Georgian external trade turnover equalled $11.93 billion in January-August 2022, posting an increase of 36.6 percent year-on-year, Geostat said.

The value of exports rose by 36.9 percent and equalled $3.57 billion in the reported period, while imports also grew by 36.5 percent, amounting to $8.36 billion.
