A new survey released on Friday by the US National Democratic Institute and CRRC Georgia showed an increase in support for protection of LGBTQI+ rights in the country.
Results of the survey showed 38 percent of respondents said the protection of the LGBTQI+ rights was important, with 18 percent being neutral on the issue and 38 percent considering it not important.
The results follow a trend of reduction in negative attitudes towards queer communities in Georgia, which was observed in a United Nations joint programme for gender equality earlier this year.
The new nationwide survey was conducted between July 14-August 15 through face-to-face interviews with a nationwide representative sample of Georgia’s adult population, excluding the occupied territories.
The August poll included 2,104 completed interviews with the average margin of error at 2 percent.
