The Georgian revenue service on Thursday announced that the railway wagons loaded with 1,972 tons of fuel oil had entered the Gardabani customs checkpoint on Monday and had been screened, confirming that the international sanctions, imposed on Russia and Belarus since the start of the war in Ukraine, did not apply to either the shipment or the owner company.

In its statement, the state body explained that the cargo had been sent by Kazakhstan through an intermediary country and eventually to Turkey, but refrained from naming the companies and confidential tax information.

The service said after the completion of the customs control procedures, the cargo was placed in the transit procedure under the legislation.
