Georgian firefighters and rescuers of the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Saturday completed swift water and mountain rescue training in Georgia's central-western Borjomi Municipality and Racha region, while receiving certificates.

Within the framework of cooperation with the United States Office of Defence Cooperation, 50 firefighters and rescuers, as well as the National Guard of Georgia participated in the training, provided by professionals from the US, the Emergency Management Service said.

The instructors conducted both theoretical and practical training, including landing operations, immobilisation and evacuation of accident victims, as well as preparing special cableways and using rescue equipment in strong currents.

The final demonstration exercise was attended by the US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, Davit Sukhishvili, the Head of Fire and Rescue Department, and the US Major General Thomas Carden, as well as Colonel Roman Jokhadze, the Commander of the Georgian National Guard.
