Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, on Thursday met with John Pennell, the new Head of the United States Agency for International Development in Georgia, to discuss ongoing projects and prospects for further cooperation, the Ministry of Economy said.
Briefing the US official on current trends in the domestic economy, Davitashvili stressed the role of the American agency in supporting economic and structural reforms in Georgia.
The Minister placed a particular focus on individual USAID programmes contributing to the development of particular sectors of the country's economy, such as tourism, production, energy, transport, information technology and others, said the Ministry press office.
Pennell, who began his tenure earlier this week, pledged to support domestic reforms and facilitate even closer cooperation between USAID and the Georgian Government.
