The bilateral and multilateral relations between Georgia and Spain, as well as Georgia's European integration, were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares on the sidelines of the informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Prague.
Darchiashvili provided information on the current agenda of Georgia’s European integration and the country’s progress in fulfilling its obligations under the Association Agenda and the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Council for granting the country candidate status, and in this regard, the officials “positively” evaluated the Georgia-EU Association Council, to be held in the “near future”, the Foreign Ministry said.
Albares highlighted Spain’s support for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspiration, with the sides “highly” appreciating the decision to support Georgia at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit, which will be hosted in Spain’s capital city of Madrid.
The existing “close and friendly” relations and their development prospects, between Georgia and Estonia, were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Estonian counterpart Urmas Reinsalu on the sidelines of the informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Prague.
The “role and importance” of the Associated Trio countries of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine under a “new geopolitical agenda” were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Moldovan counterpart Nicu Popescu on the sidelines of the informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Prague.
