1,338 winners revealed in Enterprise Georgia grant competition

A grant programme of Enterprise Georgia, a state campaign launched in recent years by the Government to support entrepreneurship, has revealed 1,338 winners across the country, the Ministry of Economy announced on Tuesday.

The latest round of the Micro and Small Business Support Programme, announced in March, identified the winning projects out of 3,700 applicants that had reached the final stage.

The overall grant reached ₾30,000 ($10,364), while in the regions of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Svaneti, Guria and Kakheti it hit ₾40,000 ($13,818) under the pilot Integrated Regional Development Programme, launched by the Government and co-financed through the budget support scheme by the European Union.

The winners were asked to draw up the purpose of their grant budgets under capital expenditures of not less than 90 percent and working capital of not more than 10 percent.

Implemented in all regions of Georgia and supporting more than 300 economic activities, the programme aims to develop micro and small-sized businesses in the country, establish modern entrepreneurial culture and create new jobs.

Since its launch in 2015, a total of 6,901 projects have been financed, with the volume of investments exceeding ₾78 million ($27mln).
