Three opposition activists who were arrested at a solidarity rally for the currently imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili in November have been released on ₾5,000 ($1,800) bail for each on Friday by Tbilisi City Court.
Two of the three defendants, Besik Tamliani and Emzar Siukaev, were charged with disobeying law enforcement, while Stepane Gikoshvili was detained for attacking police officers in an incident near Tbilisi City Court on November 29, while the court was holding a trial hearing in one of the cases involving the former President.
The trio had to spend almost nine months in custody, with the trial hearing in the case scheduled on September 15.
The Georgian opposition had organised several rallies in support of Saakashvili in Tbilisi and regions, since the arrest of the former President in the Georgian capital in October, on his clandestine return to the country.
