The first response teams of the firefighters and border police helicopter responded to the calls to put out a fire on Sunday in the forest near Georgia's central-western Borjomi municipality’s village of Kvabishkevi.
The Emergency Management Service said the difficult landscape and the “strong” winds hinder the process of extinguishing the fire and noted that a decision had been made to send additional groups, adding that the firefighters had installed water pumps on the Mtkvari river, which has “significantly” accelerated the containment of the fire.
A total of 100 firefighters and rescuers are involved in the process.
