An Iranian citizen was arrested at the Tbilisi International Airport on Tuesday after a canine officer and a police dog of the Customs Department of the Georgian Revenue Service discovered 394,43 grams of marijuana while inspecting luggage at the customs checkpoint.

The Revenue Service of the Finance Ministry said the Central Criminal Police Department had launched an investigation into the accident proceeding with the Criminal Code article concerning illegal purchase, storage and smuggling of marijuana and psychotropic substances.

The Service said the security control at customs checkpoints across Georgia has been carried out by canine officers and 29 dogs, “specially trained” to search and detect drugs/smuggled tobacco products.
