An air raid in Ukraine has resulted in the latest Georgian casualty of the war in Ukraine, with volunteer Kakha Gogoli confirmed killed in the attack on Sunday.

Georgian’s Ambassador to Ukraine Giorgi Zakarashvili confirmed the information to the Georgian Public Broadcaster, with the channel also noting the Foreign Ministry had started procedures for the repatriation of his body.

Gogoli joined forces to fight against Russian troops in Ukraine two weeks after the beginning of their invasion, and fought in Ukraine’s eastern region of Luhansk.

His death takes the number of Georgian volunteers killed in the conflict to 17.
